A Yearner's Journal

(9/2) I found this notebook lying around just a bit down the road from my house a few days ago. I think it was Monday? I can't remember. It had a few pages already written in it. I can't make out what the words are, they're too smeared out. I can't say I'll write alot in this journal, but I'll sure hope to document whatever time I have left on earth. (9/8) I went on a walk this afternoon since I wasn't busy at all. It felt nice finally being able to take control. Its been a little less dusty around my neighborhood too, walking around was slightly more comfortable.  (9/15) As I lay in bed, I look through my window and just beyond the hill line far down are lights. Not too bright, but bright enough for me to know that its lively and happy over there in NYC. Funnily enough, if i look to the other window near my door, there's smoke. Black smoke. Nothing new. The Performative Male

Image
(Definitely a picture of me) Performative /pərˈfôrmədiv/ adjective 1. Relating to or of the nature of dramatic or artistic performance. 2. Done or expressed insincerely or inauthentically, typically with the intention of impressing others or improving one’s own image.      Within the span of the past week, I’ve listened to Juna by Clairo six or seven times (with my wired earbuds), drank a matcha latte everyday, grew my collection of Labubus, re-read Atomic Habits by James Clear, and led a women’s activist protest in Rochester. “You never know until it happens.” - my mother .      “You never know until it happens.” - my mother .   I find it so interesting how much is capable of changing over time. People always tend to say things like: “Oh, this will never ever change ” or “I’ll always act this way ”. Although at the moment this may seem accurate, we often underestimate how long it takes for something huge to change.        I personally associate “change” with a long-term process – a process that goes through trial and error, but recently I realized that “change” is ultimately a domino effect. I’m sure you can recall a certain time where a small event may have happened, which le d to events popping up here and there . Considering how much happens in everyday life; this concept of change is not uncommon at all. By allowing ourselves to acknowledge change and to not fixate on it, we open ourselves to greater opportunities .        Throughout th...
